An Irish folk tale. The poet waited for years by the well to catch and eat the fish of knowledge. Eventually he caught the fish and gave it to Finn to cook. Whilst Finn was cooking the fish, he burned his thumb. He put the burned thumb in his mouth and was immediately filled with knowledge. The poet said that the knowledge was destined for Finn and urged him to eat the rest of the fish.
